Meet Carla Wyburn
Violinist Managing
and Artistic Director
In 2007, I founded String Quartet Solutions, pioneering luxury String Quartet performances for events in Portugal. Before that, I studied violin performance at Trinity College of Music (London) and Amsterdam Conservatoire, and travelled the world with leading European orchestras.
I started playing the violin at the age of three and quickly developed the bug for performing on stage. You only get one chance to deliver a great performance to a specific audience and this challenge was, and still is, the driving force behind hours and hours of practice and rehearsal.

In the UK, I gained extensive experience in managing and playing in various string quartets. We played for royalty several times at many illustrious locations. When I arrived in Portugal I noticed that having a string quartet at events, weddings and the like wasn’t common. So I decided to make it common and created this mini-industry. String Quartet Solutions quickly established a reputation as the finest ensemble in Portugal for providing an elegant accompaniment for special occasions.
These days, we’re destination events, weddings and tourism specialists. I’m bilingual in English/Portuguese, removing all the stress that language barriers can create. My entire focus is on making beautiful music for beautiful occasions.
Our musicians
Based in Lisbon, but available across Portugal, String Quartet Solutions features an incredible line-up of world-class string players. Our musicians are highly-talented professional musicians who have all studied to Master’s level and beyond at leading music schools. They have worked with Portuguese and international symphony and chamber orchestras for many years.
